Frequently asked questions
Why per-site for Core and Professional but per-line for Enterprise?
Self-service customers want predictable flat pricing they can pay by credit card — per-site with a line band is simple and fair. Enterprise customers have multi-plant operations with dozens of lines and prefer per-line pricing that scales cleanly as they expand; that conversation belongs with a sales rep who can structure site caps and volume discounts. The underlying value metric is the same: production lines running through Qontiv.
What counts as a "production line"?
A connected sequence of equipment producing a defined set of products, typically sharing a routing and a shift schedule. Most discrete-manufacturing plants think in lines naturally. If your equipment layout is unusual (e.g. a job shop with interchangeable cells), contact sales — we will work out a fair definition together.
We're a batch or process manufacturer — does Qontiv work for us?
Qontiv is built for discrete manufacturing today — products produced as countable units with lot or serial tracking (machined parts, electronics assembly, consumer goods, battery packs, medical devices, etc.). Native batch-record management, ISA-88 recipe control, time-based continuous-process recording (kg/hour, liters/minute), and yield-from-recipe calculations are on our roadmap but not yet available. If you run a hybrid operation with discrete packaging or finishing lines at an otherwise-process plant, those lines can use Qontiv today — contact sales to discuss the fit.
What happens if I exceed my plan's line limit?
The product soft-warns when you create equipment flagged as a production line beyond your plan's band. You have 30 days to upgrade, add a line via an add-on, or contact sales. We do not silently charge you for unannounced overages.
Are users and operators really unlimited?
Yes. Every plan includes unlimited users and operators. MES adoption depends on every operator having their own account — we will never make that expensive for you. User caps would undermine the exact adoption pattern we are trying to enable.
Is there a free trial?
Every Qontiv evaluation starts with a structured pilot. We scope a 4-week implementation against your equipment data and success criteria so you can see real production data on Day 1 of week 2. Enterprise pilots include a dedicated line with access to the Professional feature set. Pilot pricing is set at the demo conversation.
Can I change plans later?
Yes. Upgrades are prorated to the day. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle. Annual plans can upgrade mid-term; downgrades apply at renewal.
Do I need to buy machine-connectivity hardware?
No. Our edge gateway runs on any Linux or Windows device — a $35 Raspberry Pi 5, an industrial PC you already have, or a Windows machine on the shop floor. We do not sell hardware, and we do not charge per connected machine.
Is AI Copilot included?
AI Analytics is an optional add-on rather than bundled. Usage concentrates among supervisors, engineers, and quality leads — paying per active AI user rather than per operator keeps the core MES price fair. Add-on is $25/user/month or a capped per-site bundle starting at $250/month for up to 10 active users.
What ERP systems do you integrate with?
Oracle EBS and Oracle Fusion are production-ready on every plan. SAP S/4HANA Cloud and On-Premise (including ECC), NetSuite, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 connectors are Enterprise-tier. CSV import, REST API, and webhooks are available on every plan for DIY integrations.
Is Qontiv compatible with IATF 16949 / AS9100 / ISO 13485 / 21 CFR Part 11?
Yes. Every plan is designed to be compatible — full lot/serial traceability, tamper-evident audit trails, electronic signatures with identity binding, and immutable production records. Your certification body audits you; Qontiv provides the records and controls auditors look for. Formal compliance packages with validation documentation (IQ/OQ/PQ templates, validated e-sig binding, SOPs) are available on Enterprise.
What about SOC 2?
SOC 2 Type II is in progress. Once the report is issued, Enterprise customers can request it under NDA. For current security posture and sub-processor list, see our Trust Center.
How does annual billing save money?
Annual prepay saves 10%. Core goes from $1,500 to $1,350/month equivalent; Professional from $4,500 to $4,050. Enterprise is always annual with custom terms.
Multi-site or high-line-count discounts?
Yes — Enterprise customers routinely negotiate site-level commercial caps. For example, a blended rate across multiple pack lines and module lines at a single plant. Contact sales for a proposal based on your layout.
I'm a design partner or early reference customer — are there discounts?
Yes. Customers who help us validate new features and serve as lighthouse references qualify for substantial Year 1 discounts that ramp to list pricing over 24–36 months. Contact sales to discuss.
